NEW DELHI, JULY 16: UNSW Sydney, which jumped two places ahead in the recent QS rankings from 45 to 43 is bringing its award-winning India Open Days (IOD) to four cities for which registrations have opened.

The Open Days in Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai & Delhi are on August 4th, 6th, 9th and 11th respectively.

The event will showcase how UNSW helps students become expertly employable in their chosen fields through specialised guidance and relevant exposure & experience in their areas of study.

The design, layout and format of the Open Days are geared to be interactive, with students and parents invited to experience a typical day at UNSW. The event offers a chance for potential students and their parents to meet and chat with UNSW's faculty about the wide-ranging courses offered, as well as their exciting placement programs that are accessible around the world through UNSW's global collaborations with governments, industry and institutions.

Besides faculty from the traditionally popular streams of Engineering, Medicine and Science, there will also be professors from Built Environment, Law and Art & Design, areas that are fast becoming popular with international students.

Staff from the Admissions and Careers & Employment departments will also be participating in taking queries about post-course opportunities.

In addition, there will be student ambassadors and external relations staff to talk to students and parents about day-to-day living, teaching, routine and settling-in matters.

For the Open Days, the UNSW delegation includes representatives from a range of disciplines like, Engineering, Business, Art & Design, Arts & Social Sciences, Science, Medicine, Law, Built Environment and UNSW Canberra, apart from student support services, such as, Careers & Employability, Accommodation and Future Student Services.

Students are encouraged to bring their academic transcript for assessment on the day. Scholarships, especially for well-performing Indian students, are also still available.

UNSW Sydney is the only Go8 university in Australia to offer a September step-in, for which enrolments commenced on July 1st. This was mainly introduced to benefit Indian students who were unable to join the July intake and are still considering opportunities abroad.

Former diplomat and UNSW India Country Director, Amit Dasgupta, says that a large number of applications from meritorious Indian students for studying at UNSW Sydney is a reflection of the aspiration among young Indians for a higher education experience that is strongly linked to global employability.

In recognition of the growing Indian presence in Australia in general and UNSW in particular, Fiona Docherty, Vice-President, External Relations, UNSW is visiting India to reinforce UNSW's commitment to Indian students' higher education and research aspirations & goals, and to promote further engagement.

Fiona will participate in the inaugural India Open Day event in Bangalore on Sunday, Aug. 04.
