NEW DELHI: India will celebrate the 75th Republic Day tomorrow, January 26, 2024. France president Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest on Republic Day 2024. This year’s Republic Day parade will showcase the tableaux of various states and union territories among other activities. The theme for the tableaux at the Republic Day Parade 2024 has been decided as ‘Bharat - The Mother of Democracy.’
For the first time in the three-centuries old history of Bombay Sappers, a woman officer will be leading the regiment’s all-men contingent at the R-Day parade 2024 in Delhi tomorrow, as per a PTI report. 31-year-old Major Divya Tyagi will lead the contingent comprising an officer, two junior commissioned officers and 144 Other Ranks, an officer told PTI.
“Over the past nine years, government initiatives have made Nari Shakti a symbol of Viksit Bharat, a developed nation. The 75th Republic Day parade will showcase the remarkable strides made by women in New India, demonstrating the strength of India’s Nari Shakti to the world!,” said MyGov in a post.
In addition to this, Delhi Police is participating with its all-women parade and band contingent in the Republic Day parade tomorrow for the first time. This year the parade is led by Shweta K Sugathan IPS, Addl. DCP/North district. She also led the Delhi Police contingent in Republic Day Parade 2023 and is the second women IPS officer after Kiran Bedi to lead the parade.
Among the invitees to the Republic Day parade this year are several elected representatives from the Panchayati Raj institutions. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj informed that about 500 guests, including elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions from across the country and their spouses, have been invited to witness the parade at the Kartavya Path. The selected participants are from those panchayats which have received the National Panchayat Awards previously or done good work.
