RTE Admission 2022 Uttar Pradesh: UP records highest admissions; over 1 lakh apply, say reports

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh recorded 1.24 lakh allotments as the RTE admissions 2022 came to an end. This is the largest number that the state saw in a decade.
The Right to Education (RTE) Act mandates unaided private schools to set at least 25% per cent of their entry-level seats, pre-primary and Class 1, for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections.

“In the third phase, 26,915 applications were verified against 36,232 applications. Over all, 1,24,145 allocations have been done in three phases so far,” the Hindustan Times reported.
“There is a provision of monthly fee reimbursement of Rs 450 per child to the unaided recognised private schools by the state government. Additionally, Rs 5,000 annually is provided to the parents of such students for books and uniform,” it added.
Last year, nearly 99,000 students were enrolled in private schools. The reports also said that a total of 4.6 lakh RTE seats have been identified in around 40,000 schools in Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh school education department has invited applications for free admission to private schools under the RTE Act. Online application for the RTE admission 2022-23 Madhya Pradesh can be submitted on the RTE portal, educationportal.mp.gov.in, till June 30.
