NEW DELHI: RV University (RVU), Bengaluru has signed agreements with Seattle University (SU), USA to offer a five-year integrated law dual degree programme. Through this agreement, both universities seek to facilitate student exchange, faculty exchange, joint research, opportunities to attend conferences, lectures, and seminars, joint publishing projects and library exchanges.
As per the official release, the two joint programmes will be offered to the students of RVU. One is the LLM pathway programme, which is a dual degree programme. During the five-year integrated law programme at RVU, students will be able to earn an undergraduate degree in law from RVU and an LLM degree from Seattle School of Law in their area of specialization.
RV University will also award five students a 50 percent scholarship for these joint programmes. The second agreement is for a student enrolled in the LLM programme at RVU. The student will have the opportunity to pursue a second LLM degree from Seattle University. Students can earn a dual LLM degree from RV University and Seattle University after two years of study.
Professor Sital Kalantry, Associate Dean, School of Law, SU said: "The only Center on Indian Law in any law school in the United States, recognizing that the US legal academy does not adequately study and learn from the Indian legal system, this center on Indian Law seeks to bridge this critical gap."
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Murthy said: "Seattle is a base for major tech giants in the world and offers many interesting learning opportunities for students. It has a sizable Indian population. We are, therefore, delighted with our partnership with Seattle University. It will enhance the quality of legal education in India. It is a positive development that will benefit students and the legal community as a whole. This MoU is a further testimony of our commitment to bringing a world-class learning experience for our students."
