NEW DELHI: As Kerala schools are scheduled to reopen from November 1 for physical classes, the general education department of the state has released a set of academic guidelines. The guidelines aim to address the learning gap faced by the state schools students during online classes due to pandemic, as per the reports in Times of India.

The guidelines say that students should not be put under stress in the initial days as they are attending the physical classes after a long gap. As per the report, the guidelines suggest that the first two weeks should be utilized in assessing the situation and focus on providing learning support for the ongoing online classes. The department has asked the schools to bring back all students to schools in a phased manner over a period of time.

The schools have been advised to support digital and online education through classroom sessions. The state has urged the schools to encourage the social skills of the students and allow them to indulge in activities of their preference during the first few days. The schools have been directed to come up with academic schedule of November before the schools reopen. Based on the assessment and implementation of the schedule the schedule for December should also be prepared by the school accordingly.

The guidelines have given freehand to the schools to select the schedule of daily classes, and uniform model. The schedule should be on the basis of safety protocols and, number of students to be decided as per the protocol .
