NEW DELHI: Both state board and central board schools in Karnataka have reopened today, May 16, for the academic year 2022-23 after 35 days of summer vacation. Schools across Karnataka welcomed students with midday meals, sweets, and cultural events.

BC Nagesh, Karnataka minister of primary and secondary education, greeted all students, teachers and non-teaching staff of schools through a tweet. "Schools across the state have started today, and are geared up to welcome children. Children will be immersed in the beautiful moments of reading, writing, and companionship. Greetings to all children, instructors and non-teaching staff," he said in the tweet.

The Karnataka state Department of Public Instruction (DPI) is implementing a learning recovery programme called ‘Kalika Chetarike’ for students of Classes 1 to 10. Schools are instructed to follow all COVID-19 protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing etc. during school hours.
