SSC CGL tier-1 exam postponed to October 14 for Mumbai centre; 13.5 lakh appear

SSC CGL Recruitment 2025: Despite tight security, Aadhaar authentication, including face verification, implemented across centres, SSC detected some cases of malpractice. Candidates affected by the Mumbai fire and unresolved violations are scheduled to reappear on October 14.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has completed the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 tier 1 exam across 255 centres in 126 cities over 45 shifts spanning 15 days. The SSC CGL answer key 2025 will be available soon on the official website at ssc.gov.in.

The commission states that around 28 lakh candidates had applied for the SSC CGL 2025, of which approximately 13.5 lakh appeared for the exam. The SSC CGL 2025 Tier‑1 exam is yet to be conducted for one shift at a Mumbai centre, after a fire incident on September 26 led to the rescheduling of affected candidates.
The commission received 18,920 submissions through the Candidate Feedback Portal. Candidates reported technical disruptions , which were cross-checked using digital records. SSC informed that the exam for affected candidates was rescheduled . Operational and venue issues highlighted by candidates will be considered when selecting centres for future exams.
Laptop-based testing introduced
The SSC CGL 2025 exam was conducted to fill 14,582 vacancies across various government departments, covering multiple Group B and C posts. “Laptop‑based testing was successfully piloted, with thousands of candidates taking the exam on this new mode. As and when this is scaled up, it will enable greater flexibility in providing test centres and accommodate larger numbers,” the commission said.
The commission further states that Aadhaar authentication, including Aadhaar Face Authentication during application submission, was used throughout the exam process to verify candidate identity. In a significant move, the SSC CGL 2025 tier exams were conducted at Kavaratti in Lakshadweep and Leh for the first time.
Majority of candidates allotted preferred cities: SSC
The commission reported that 93% of candidates were scheduled at one of the cities they had selected. The commission reviewed the questions quality concerns raised by candidates and implemented corrective measures.
The commission informed that some cases of malpractice were detected, including attempts to use fake PwBD documents and remote access attempts. Candidates with confirmed malpractice will be debarred.
Candidates with confirmed violations will be debarred , while those with unclear evidence will reappear on October 14, alongside candidates affected by the Mumbai fire incident.
