SSPM Medical College Admission Complaint: The candidate alleged that admission was denied after he could not pay the demanded Rs 9.2 lakh and was forced to withdraw his complaint. The committee will examine the matter on November 10 with both parties present.
The Directorate of Medical Education and the Maharashtra Admission Regulatory Authority (ARA) have taken steps to investigate complaints regarding MBBS admissions at Sindhudurg Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SSPM) Medical College for the academic year 2025–26.
According to official communications, a candidate selected for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) admission in the third round reported that the college demanded fees ranging from Rs 5 lakh to 8 lakhs. The website, however, showed only Rs 50,000 refundable caution money. Hostel and mess charges were reportedly made mandatory.
The Directorate received complaints regarding the denial of admission despite the candidate’s selection through the Maharashtra Common Entrance Process. To probe the matter, a committee has been constituted, including:
- Anita Paritekar, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College, Kolhapur
- Pradeep Raut, Associate Professor, Department of Otolaryngology, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Government Medical College, Kolhapur
Both the candidate and SSPM Medical College authorities have been asked to appear before the ARA office on November 10, 2025, at 2 PM, along with relevant documents, to present their statements. Committee members are entitled to travel and daily allowances as per their parent institution rules.

The candidate also alleged that the college administration coerced him into sending an email to the CET Cell stating that he had no grievance. The candidate claimed that he was called to the office, threatened, and detained till 6 PM before being forced to send the email. The candidate also stated that he could not pay the demanded Rs 9.2 lakh, and as a result, admission was denied.
The Directorate has acknowledged receipt of the complaint and constituted the committee to examine the matter and submit a report with findings. The college has not issued any statement regarding the ongoing inquiry.
