Stanford GSB topples INSEAD, emerges at top: FT Global MBA Ranking 2018

New Delhi: The Stanford Graduate School of Business has been ranked number one in the recently released Financial Times Global MBA Ranking 2018, it has overtaken INSEAD, which has been ranked number two.

Salary percentage increase of Alumni has been the major factor in improvement in ranking of Stanford GSB as it has increased by 114, while that of INSEAD has been 105. As many as seven schools from the US feature in the top 10 list.

Four leading management institutions from India are also on the list with the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad leading the peck from India at 28th position.

In the 2018 Ranking, the fourth and the fifth position holders of 2017 have lost their footing with Harvard Business School losing one rank and features at fifth while Judge Business School, University of Cambridge lost eight places and presently ranks at 13th position. China has entered the top 10 list with China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) at eighth position.

A total of 101 business schools are evaluated on 20 criteria. Eight among them are alumni informed criteria amounting to almost 60% of the weightage, A little over 30% of the ranking is calculated on 11 criteria from school data. The final 10% is calculated from the FT research rank.

The 20 criteria used to rank the business school are: Salary today (US$), Weighted salary (US$), Salary percentage increase, Value for money rank, Career progress rank, Aims achieved (%), Careers service rank, Employed at three months (%), Alumni recommend rank, Female faculty (%), Female students (%), Women on board (%), International faculty (%), International students (%), International board (%), International mobility rank, International course experience rank, Languages Faculty with doctorates (%), PhD graduates No., and FT research rank.

The Financial Times Global MBA ranking 2018 also includes four Indian Business Schools. Indian School of Business features at 28 rank. The other three Indian institutions are Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (31), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (39) and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (78).
