NEW DELHI: The University of Bath has started the registration process for its undergraduate economics programmes for the academic year 2024-25. Candidates can apply through the Universities and Colleges Admission Service's (UCAS) official website, ucas.com, till January 31, 2024.
As per the UCAS process, students will have to submit a personal statement, a teacher’s reference, and other information. The university said the programme will have the option to spend a year doing professional placements and study abroad experiences.
Applicants to the University of Bath’s Economics programmes should have secured the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Class 12) of the CBSE and CISCE boards with 85% across four accepted subjects. They should have at least 85% marks in Mathematics for BSc Economics and BSc Economics with Politics, and 90% marks in Mathematics for BSc Economics and Mathematics.
A level or the International Baccalaureate Diploma entry requirements are also available on each course page. Students may be able to complete an International Foundation Year with Bath’s partner organisation Bath College first if they do not expect to meet the academic requirements in time.
Candidates will also have to meet the University of Bath’s English language requirements. BSc Economics and BSc Economics with Politics require IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in all components, BSc Economics with Mathematics needs IELTS 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in all components.
The university also accepts Class 12 English scores for students studying CBSE, ISC or CISCE boards, along with some other qualifications. Students needing to improve their English may be eligible to take a pre-sessional course.
Students studying in other boards or taking other qualifications or unsure on subject choices for Class 12 can contact at email@example.com.
The annual fee for Indian students starting these degree programmes in 2024 are GBP 25,700. Students will have to pay additional GBP 7,135 in a placement year as they receive support from the University during this time.
The programmes will aim at training students for making decisions regarding how consumers and producers make choices, and how this affects supply and demand at a national and international level. Students will also learn to analyse and solve complex quantitative problems and apply these skills to real-life economic challenges.
Taking the mathematics pathway teaches students how mathematical language enables the development of financial theory, with a focus on building skills to analyse complex financial data. The politics pathway explores the connections between society, the government, and the economy.
Aspirants can join ‘University of Bath undergraduate virtual open day’ for addressing their queries and interacting with current students on November 14.
