NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has said that higher education institutions can reopen by keeping in view the Covid situation in their region, and can conduct exams in online, offline or hybrid mode adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines issued by state and central governments. UGC also requested vice-chancellors of all universities across the country to strictly implement Covid appropriate behaviour in universities, colleges and higher education institutions.

In a letter to vice-chancellors of all universities, UGC has said that higher education institutions may open campuses by taking into consideration the COVID-19 situation in the respective region. Institutions are allowed to conduct exams in online, offline or in hybrid mode by following Covid protocols issued by the concerned authority in the respective region.

According to various media reports, higher educational institutions are reopening across the country. Recently, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has permitted the reopening of higher education institutions in Delhi. Delhi University is reopening the campus for undergraduate and postgraduate students by February 17 owing to the protest by the students to resume offline classes. But the administration of Jamia Millia Islamia said that their university campus will be opening after guidelines from the UGC gets released.
