UGC asks varsities to furnish CBCS implementation details

NEW DELHI, APRIL 7: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the Universities to provide details related to the implementation of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and revision of Curriculum.

The apex higher education letter in its letter sent to Vice Chancellors of all the Universities asking them to furnish the details has said that the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development is creating a database regarding the implementation of CBCS and curriculum revision in Universities across the country.

The UGC has asked universities whether it has implemented CBCS or not, when was Curriculum last revised and has asked for subject wise details. The Universities have also been asked to provide brief information about the curriculum design and updating procedure

The UGC letter reads, “You are aware that UGC has developed Guidelines on Choice Based Credit

System (CBCS) and also the detailed syllabi in consultation with various stakeholders in as many as 109 undergraduate courses as a template. These syllabi of 109 courses are available on the UGC website. The template gives a broad framework of uniformity as well as inbuilt flexibility. All the Universities were requested to adopt the CBCS and also revise the curriculum.”
