NEW DELHI, MARCH 22: The University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon send Show Cause Notice to three deemed universities found lacking in quality. The Supreme Court of India in its November 2017 Judgement cancelled the degree awarded by these universities.

The three Universities likely to face strict action are Institute of Advanced Studies in Education in Rajasthan; Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation in Salem (Tamil Nadu); and the Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research in Chennai.

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar recently said that a show cause notice will be given to three deemed universities which are lacking in quality.

The three deemed universities were also blacklisted by the Tandon committee in 2009 as they were found lacking on various parameters.
