NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has completed the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2024) for the June session today, June 18. The exam took place in two shifts - shift 1 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and shift 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm. This was the first time the test was conducted offline using OMR sheets. UGC NET 2024 Live
According to candidates' feedback on UGC NET 2024 shift 1, they found the exam relatively easy but noted it was time-consuming. As per candidates, the number of good attempts range from 40 to 43 questions. The overall difficulty level of the UGC NET 2024 paper was easy to moderate.
The UGC NET 2024 exam comprised two papers. Paper 1 consisted of 50 questions, each carrying two marks, totaling 100 marks. This paper assessed candidates on teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Paper 2 included 100 questions, also carrying two marks each, totaling 200 marks.
The UGC NET exam is held twice in a year -June and December. The UGC NET exam is held to assess candidates' eligibility for assistant professor roles in Indian universities and colleges, as well as for granting the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Beginning this year, UGC has also authorized universities to consider NET scores for admission into their PhD programs.
Students' reactions to the UGC NET 2024 exams indicate varied perspectives on the difficulty and content of the papers. One student described Paper 2 as easier than previous years, noting that while the passage section was straightforward, Data Interpretation posed challenges. This student predicts a higher cut-off due to the overall ease of the paper. Another student found both Paper 1 and Paper 2 moderate, highlighting questions on International Relations (IR) and the Constitution. They anticipate a rise in the cut-off compared to last year. A third student had similar reactions, he stated that the exam was moderate with questions asked from topics such as IR, literary figures, and management theories.
