UGC NET December 2023 registration ends today; exam pattern, fee

NTA will hold the UGC NET December 2023 exam from December 6 to 22 and the result will be declared on January 10, 2024.

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will close the registration window for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET December 2023) today. Candidates can fill the UGC NET December 2023 application form on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

NTA will conduct UGC NET 2023 exam for the December session from December 6 to December 22. The result of UGC NET December 2023 exam will be declared on January 10, 2024.

UGC NET: Eligibility criteria

Candidates applying for the UGC NET should have cleared master’s degree with at least 55% marks. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) and PwD categories will be given 5% relaxation in minimum marks of the qualifying exam.

The NTA said candidates who have PhD degrees and completed their master’s level examination and/or are waiting for the declaration of the result are eligible with 5% relaxation in aggregate marks. Students who are appearing for final year master’s degree exam and those with postgraduate diploma, degree and certificate from foreign institute can also apply for the UGC NET December 2023.

UGC NET application fee

Candidates of unreserved categories will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 1,150 whereas candidates belonging to EWS and OBC-NCL will have to make Rs 600 registration fee. SC, ST, PwD, and third gender candidates will have to pay a registration fee of Rs 325.

UGC NET 2023: Documents required

  • Valid government id proof such as Aadhaar card, voter card driver’s licence, etc
  • Qualifying degree certificate or last semester marks sheet
  • Copy of board/university certificate
  • Category certificate, if applicable.

The UGC NET December 2023 exam will have two papers, which will be conducted in computer-based mode. Paper 1 will have 50 objective type questions of 2 marks each regarding reasoning, comprehension, general awareness and divergent thinking. Paper 2 will be of 100 objective type questions, 2 marks each, based on the subject selected by the candidate. There is no negative marking in this paper.
