NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued an advisory to SWAYAM learners against fraudulent scholarship and job offers. The UGC has warned potential applicants against such offers, sharing personal details and giving money.

The UGC has issued a notice stating that cheats are approaching learners on the education ministry’s e-learning platform, Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) with offers of scholarships and jobs and in return for verification money and personal details. Some are charging Rs 100 as verification fees when registration for SWAYAM courses is free.

The learners are told that they have been selected for national scholarships and government jobs. “The fraudulent individuals or groups have also shared their bank details for the deposit of verification fees.,” UGC’s notice states.

The UGC has issued a caution to all SWAYAM learners to remain alert and not to fall prey to any such claims.
