University of Calcutta: Mamata Banerjee congratulates CU for THE Impact rankings

NEW DELHI: The University of Calcutta has been ranked first among public universities in India featured in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2022, said West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Calcutta University has also been ranked 14th in the sub-category 'Decent Work and Economic Growth.' Banerjee congratulated CU authorities, faculties, researchers and students in a tweet for the achievement.

The University of Calcutta has been ranked among the top 300 universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2022. About eight universities from India were ranked in the top 300 universities.

"Glad to learn that the Calcutta University has been ranked 1st in India among all Central and State-aided public Universities and Institutes by Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2022," she said in the tweet. "In sub-category 'Decent Work and Economic Growth', CU has been awarded Global Rank 14th. Congratulations to CU authorities, faculties, researchers, students," she further said.

One university from India was featured in the top 50 list of THE Impact Ranking 2022 , and two were listed in the top 100. The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was ranked 41 and the Lovely Professional University was ranked 74. About 64 Indian universities were featured in THE Impact rankings 2022.
