University of Hyderabad gets 5G Use Case Lab unveiled by PM Modi
PM Modi unveiled 100 5G labs at educational institutes at the 7th edition of India Mobile Congress 2023.
NEW DELHI: University of Hyderabad (UoH) is one of the three institutions from Telangana selected to receive the 5G Use Case Lab unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi launched 100 such labs at the 7th Edition of the India Mobile Congress 2023 . These labs are being developed under the ‘100 5G labs initiative’.
As part of the 100 5G labs scheme, the university as a beneficiary is expected to receive equipment worth Rs 50 lakh approximately. Once operational, the lab will be coordinated by the School of Computer and Information Sciences at the university.
The event was webcast live at the School of Life Sciences auditorium which was attended by professor B J Rao, vice-chancellor; Devesh Nigam, registrar; deans of the schools; faculty members; officials, employees and students.
“University of Hyderabad is the ideal multi-disciplinary hub where Engineering and Technology of 5G Labs can interface with innovative applications motivated by social sciences, humanities, life sciences and medicine,” UoH said in an official statement.
“The ‘100 5G labs initiative’, is a means to realise the opportunities associated with 5G technology by encouraging development of 5G applications. The initiative will foster innovation across various sectors like education, agriculture, health, power, transportation, and more.
