The Madras University’s centenary auditorium is under renovation and the convocation has shifted to Anna University.

NEW DELHI: University of Madras will host the 165th convocation today. President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest of the ceremony.
“The University of Madras extends a wholehearted welcome to Hon’ble Smt Droupadi Murmu, President of India as the chief guest who will deliver the convocation address of epoch-making of 165th convocation On August 6, 2023 at 10 AM,” the official website read.
More than one lakh students who are graduating from the Madras University are expected to receive their degrees today. “The Madras University’s centenary auditorium is under renovation and the convocation has shifted to Anna University,” as per the Times of India report.
Gold medalists and PhD scholars will also be invited for the convocation. President Droupadi Murmu will be awarding degrees to the top-ranking graduates.
“President Murmu will also meet members of PVTGs of Tamil Nadu, unveil portrait of Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharathiyar and grace renaming ceremony of Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan as Bharathiyar Mandapam at Raj Bhavan, Chennai,” the DD News tweeted.
University of Madras has been ranked 50 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2023) ranking released by the ministry of education. A total of 22 universities were ranked in top 100 under the NIRF University ranking 2023.
