UP Board 2026 Class 10, 12 improvement and compartment exam applications begin tomorrow; eligibility criteria

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) will open the application process for the High School (Class 10) improvement & compartment examinations and Intermediate (Class 12) compartment examination tomorrow, June 6, 2026. Candidates can apply on the official website of UPMSP at upmsp.edu.in or compartment.upmsp.edu.in.

Students appearing for the examinations will be required to pay the prescribed application fee through a treasury challan. The fee for the Class 10 improvement or compartment examination has been fixed at Rs 256.50, while candidates applying for the Class 12 compartment examination will have to pay Rs 306.

After completing the application process, candidates should download and retain a copy of the submitted form along with the original treasury fee challan for future reference. The board has instructed applicants to send the printed application form and the original challan to the concerned regional office via registered post within three days of the application deadline. Failure to submit these documents within the specified period may result in the application not being considered.

UP Board Class 10, 12 Improvement Application 2026: Eligibility criteria

According to the eligibility criteria, Class 10 students who have failed in one subject can apply for the improvement examination, while those who have failed in two subjects are eligible to appear for the compartment examination in one of the failed subjects. For Class 12 students, candidates from the Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams who did not pass in one paper of any subject can apply for the Compartment Examination. Similarly, students from the Vocational stream who have failed in one paper of a trade subject are also eligible to appear for the compartment test.

The UPMSP has stated that examinations for subjects containing theory, practical and project components will continue to be conducted in accordance with the board’s existing assessment guidelines. Candidates appearing for improvement or compartment examinations will have to follow the prescribed examination pattern applicable to their respective subjects.

The board has also specified that students who have failed only in a particular component of a subject, such as the practical examination or project work, will be required to reappear only for that component rather than retaking the entire subject. Detailed schedules for the written examinations, practical tests and project evaluations will be issued separately at a later date.
