UP schools to remain closed on March 9 due to Holi celebration

Schools run under UP Basic Education Council or recognized basic schools will remain close.

NEW DELHI: UP Basic Education Council has declared the holiday on March 9 on the occasion of Holi Purnima for schools run under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council or recognized basic schools.

The council has declared the holiday to honor the traditional celebration. Department Of Basic Education Uttar Pradesh, has issued a notice regarding the same.

Earlier, the government had only announced holiday for March 7 and March 8 for Holi. However, due to demand, March 9 has now also been declared a holiday.

In other news, the Puducherry government has declared school holidays in Puducherry and Karaikal regions today, March 7. The decision was made in view of the 'Masi Magam Festival'. However, the HSC public practical exam will not be postponed and will be held as per the scheduled date and time.
