UPES has started Bsc-Msc, BTech-MBA programmes under the School of Health Sciences

NEW DELHI: University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) has launched new undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the School of Health Sciences for the session starting in 2021.
UPES has introduced three new BSc-MSc integrated courses in clinical research, nutrition and dietetics, and microbiology. All of them will be offered by UPES' health science department. The duration of the courses is four years. The students will attain a BSc-MSc degree after completing a course.
It has also introduced a PG programme of two years - MSc in pharmacology and toxicology.
The university has started two new integrated BTech-MBA programmes in health sciences - BTech- MBA in food technology and in biotechnology. A separate four-year BTech programme, BTech in biotechnology has also been added to the list of new courses.
Apart from that, the university has also added PhD programmes in pharmaceutical sciences, microbiology, and food and nutrition sciences.
“There has been a surge in the need for skilled healthcare workers so these programs are designed bearing in mind the industry demands and to equip the students with the right skill sets making them readily employable,” said the statement.
Neeraj Mahindroo, dean, School of Health Sciences said: “The new programs are built on an interdisciplinary approach with the purpose of providing our students with well-rounded education offering them multiple specialisations and the opportunity to explore subjects from other disciplines at UPES like design, business, artificial intelligence and more.”
While most of the new courses have an eligibility criteria of minimum 50% marks in class 11 and 12 with physics, chemistry, biology or maths and english as major subjects, the admission is given through personal interview. However, for BTech in biotechnology, either the students will have to appear for UPESEAT exam or have 80% marks in classes 11 and 12 with minimum 80% aggregate marks in PCM or get through NEET and 50% marks in classes 11 and 12.
