NEW DELHI : The Uttar Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (UPPSC) has announced that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) Prelims 2024 will now be conducted on December 22 in two shifts. The commission revised the UPPSC pre exam date 2024 after facing backlash from aspirants over two-day exam and use of normalisation process.
As per the exam schedule, the first shift of UPPSC PCS exam 2024 will be conducted from 9:30 am to 11:30 am while the second shift will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
“It is hereby informed that instead of the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (P.A.) Examination-2024 which was proposed to be held in two days on 07th and 08th December, the said examination will now be held in one day on 22.12.2024 in two sessions ( The first session will be held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and the second session will be held from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm,” the commission said in the latest notice.
Following massive protests by aspirants demanding ' one day one exam ', the commission decided to conduct the civil services exam on a single day as earlier. The exam was slated for December 7 and 8. Due to a shortage of sufficient examination centers across the state for the large number of registered candidates, the commission had decided to hold the exam in multiple shifts, resulting in change in the evaluation process, allowing use of normalisation method.
UPPSC PCS exam postponement
The commission previously postponed the combined state, senior subordinate services prelims exam twice due to administrative reasons. Scheduled for October 27, the test was postponed without stating any specific reason. Prior to that, the exam was supposed to be held on March 17 but was deferred. The announcement came amid reports of paper leaks and cancellations of recruitment exams in the state.
UPPSC PCS prelims exam consists of two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper-I and CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) Paper-II. Both papers are conducted on the same day, with a total duration of 4 hours.
