NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued the reserve list for the Civil Services Mains Examination (CSE Mains) 2023 sought by the Department of Personnel and Training. The commission has recommended 120 candidates who will fill remaining posts in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other central Group A and Group B services.

Candidates can check the UPSC CSE Mains 2023 reserve list through the official website, upsc.gov.in. The list includes the names and roll numbers of these newly-recommended candidates.

The UPSC CSE reserve list comprises 88 general category candidates, 5 from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 23 from Other Backward Classes (OBC), 3 from the Scheduled Castes (SC), and 1 from the Scheduled Tribes (ST).

The commission also noted that the candidature of 30 candidates on the reserve list is provisional. The DoPT will be reaching out directly to each of the recommended candidates for further steps.

UPSC CSE Mains 2023 result

The initial result of the UPSC CSE 2023 was announced on April 16, 2024, with an initial recommendation of 1,016 candidates for essential civil service positions. Of the total, 664 men and 352 women have been recommended by the Commission for appointment to various Services and the top 25 candidates comprise 10 women and 15 men. Among the top 5 candidates, three are men and two are women candidates.

This year's examination was conducted to fill 1,143 vacancies across multiple departments. Additionally, a new reserve list has been released, which ranks candidates based on their merit and includes those who were considered after the last recommended individual from the main results.

This reserve list serves as a backup, allowing for the selection of additional candidates if any of the initially recommended candidates decline their offers or are unable to join.
