In 2020, around 10 lakh candidates applied for UPSC Civil Services Exam 2020.
UPSC Civil Services exam is conducted to shortlist eligible candidates for elite services of India. UPSC Prelims 2020 timetable includes UPSC exam timing for GS Paper 1 and GS Paper 2 i.e 9.30 am to 11.30 a.m and 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm.
UPSC Prelims 2020 is conducted at 2,569 centers across 72 cities in the country. Earlier, the UPSC IAS 2020 Prelims was scheduled for May 31, however the commission has postponed the UPSC 2020 exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UPSC IAS Prelims 2020 comprises of 16 questions from polity. The questions will be asked from Fundamental Rights, Preamble, DPSP, Union Government, Basic Structure etc. The questions from polity were easy to moderate.
14 questions were asked from economics including topics like Gold Tranche, FDI, TRIMS, etc. The question were easy to moderate. All the questions were direct concept based questions

UPSC Answer Key 2020 (Paper 1) SET B Released
According to Abhishek Patil from skholar.com, “the paper has mostly shifted to application-based than from current affairs. This year, the paper was ruled by questions from science and technology, economy, while history, geography have conventional questions. This year, UPSC asked questions on agriculture-related to recent trends on MSP, Agri procurements, and on eco- friendly agriculture practices.”
UPSC Paper 2 Analysis- Exam was easy to moderate
Paper 2 contains equal proportion of Comprehension and Maths. Both are 50-50 and were easy, not very difficult.

UPSC Special Arrangement Due to COVID-19
Union Public Service Commission provided special arrangements for UPSC aspirants such as the option to check the exam centre. Around 60,000 candidates applied to change the UPSC exam centre change. There are 72 UPSC exam centres and 2,500 sub-exam centres.

UPSC 2020 Shift 2 Started
Paper 2 commenced at 2.30 pm. The analysis will be updated after the exam is concluded.

UPSC Civil Service Exam Analysis
This year, UPSC prelims was moderately tough. Majorly questions were asked from Agriculture, Economy and Banking.
UPSC Analysis- Only a Few Questions From Current Affairs
As per the exam analysis of UPSC Civil Service Prelims 2020, more questions were asked from Economics, science and environment. While the number of questions from current affairs, History and polity are less.

UPSC is expected to declare the IAS Prelims 2020 result in next month, as per the trend of 2019. Last year, the UPSC prelims result was released on July 12 and the exam was held on June 2.

In an HT report, a UPSC candidate said, “The lockdown and pandemic caused a sort of setback for many UPSC aspirants. We were unsure of the possibility of UPSC Civiil Services exams being conducted in 2020. But everyone has prepared well and I hope we do our best.
Another UPSC candidate, Jaswant Kumar said, “This is a very unprecedented situation. Pandemic is nowhere to end in the near future, so it is better to conduct UPSC Prelims 2020 exams.”
The first shift of UPSC prelims exam will end at 11.30 A.M. Candidate will have almost 2.30 hours of break time for refreshments. UPSC exam time for the second shift is 2.30 p.m. Candidates do note that exam entry will be closed at 2.20 i.e. 10 minutes before the UPSC IAS 2020 exam.

The UPSC Pre cut off marks will be created based on GS paper 1 only. GS Paper 2 is of qualifying nature with 33% marks as per Rule-15 of Civil Services Examination 2020

UPSC will hold the Civil Services exam in 2020 to fill 796 vacant posts including 24 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category.
