NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission announced that the UPSC Civil Services preliminary exam which was scheduled to be conducted on June 27, will now be held on October 10. The exam was postponed due to the COVID-19 situation prevailing in the country.
The UPSC conducts the civil services examination every year for recruitment to various positions. On March 4, the notice for the UPSC civil services and the application form was released. The notice also mentioned that the last date to register for the exam was March 24.

Last year, the UPSC civil services prelims exam was scheduled for May 31 and was postponed to October 4. The mains exam for UPSC civil services 2020 has been completed, however, the interview round is yet to take place.
According to the UPSC civil services notification, the exam will be conducted to fill at least 712 vacant positions. There has been a decline in the total number of vacancies for which the exam will be conducted as compared to last year. There were a total of 796 vacancies for which the UPSC civil service exam 2020 was held.
The selection process for the UPSC civil services consists of three stages. The first stage is the preliminary examination, followed by mains and then the interview. Candidates who qualify all three stages of the selection process are offered the appointment letter and have to undergo training.
