Uttar Pradesh schools for Classes 9 to 12, colleges to reopen from February 7

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh schools for Classes 9 to 12 and all degree colleges will reopen tomorrow, February 7, additional chief secretary, home, Awanish K Awasthi said on Sunday.

According to the government order, “Educational institutions for classes 9 and above, along with all degree colleges, will be restarted from February 7, 2022, until further orders.”

Closure of schools, colleges in Uttar Pradesh was extended from January 30 to February 15 owing to the Covid-19, Omicron cases in India. The decision to reopen UP schools came after the unaided private schools association (UPSA) recently threatened to stop online classes if the Uttar Pradesh government does not reopen schools in the state. The UP private schools also asked to resume offline classes from February 7.

“A large number of private schools in Uttar Pradesh have no option but to shut down their schools if the state government does not allow them to increase fees,” UPSA added.
