UP schools, colleges to remain shut till January 30; online classes to continue

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh government further extends closure of schools till January 30, 2022, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state. However, online classes will continue as usual in all schools, colleges and other educational institutions, Avnish Kumar Awasthi, additional chief secretary, Uttar Pradesh, said, as per the ANI report.

This is the second time that the state government has extended the UP school reopening date. Uttar Pradesh had earlier extended the closure of schools till January 23 (Sunday).

Meanwhile, the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the Covid-19 situation in the state and ordered the authorities to strictly follow Covid-19 guidelines for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Teachers Eligibility Test (UPTET 2021).

Uttar Pradesh on Friday reported 22 coronavirus deaths as 16,142 fresh cases surfaced, pushing the state’s infection count to 19,16,616, according to a government statement. So far, 23,022 people have died from the infection in the state. Of the fresh deaths, two each were reported from Lucknow, Meerut, Lakhimpur Kheri, Chandauli and Ballia, PTI reported.
