NEW DELHI: The Uttarakhand government has decided to close schools upto Class 12 and anganwadi centres till January 31 in view of the rising COVID-19 cases. Online classes will continue for the students.
“In a letter dated Jan 22, Uttarakhand Govt extends COVID restrictions in the state till January 31. All Anganwadi Centres and educational institutions up to 12th standard to remain closed, online classes to continue,” ANI UP, Uttarakhand tweeted.
Earlier, the government had announced schools upto Class 6 to be shut till January 22.
In a related development, the Goa government has also extended the closure of schools and colleges owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state.
“Schools, colleges and other institutions of higher education will remain closed in Goa till February 15, 2022, however, teachers are permitted to attend schools for conducting online classes,” said an order released by the revenue secretary Sanjay Kumar.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra schools resumed physical sessions for classes 1 to 12 today and the state government expressed hope that students would enjoy being back to their classrooms in a safe atmosphere. Last week, the Maharashtra government allowed the offline classes to resume from January 24 after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray approved a proposal to this effect that was sent to him by the school education department.
