VIT to launch a new engineering curriculum, immersive learning methodology and multi-disciplinary degrees

New Delhi, October 17: Speaking on the occasion of (graVITas 2018) Mr. Anand A. Samuel, Vice-Chancellor, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) said that the university will launch new learning methodologies for engineering courses after getting prior permission from the AICTE. Over 15,000 students attended graVITas 2018 where more than 140 research papers were presented and 128 events were organized by the VIT.

VIT is planning to introduce the immersive learning methodology and multidisciplinary degrees in the upcoming academic year, said by Mr. Anand A. Samuel, Vice-Chancellor, VIT. Students will learn engineering courses through practical and augmented reality, he added.

Example: If students need to manufacture an automobile, he/she will get all the information about the making of the vehicle in engineering departments like electrical, electronics and mechanical.

The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) had in recent times changed the curriculum of engineering courses. A new Curriculum, reduction of credits from 200 to 160, Mandatory Internship, Induction Program, less theory with more focus on practical learning are amongst the few major quality initiatives taken by AICTE.

Mr. Zakwan Ahmed, Director General, DRDO, the chief guest at the graVITas 2018, said that the engineering graduates to visit the villages and understand the problems faced by them.

In order to fulfill the basic needs of the village civilian, the engineering graduates should find a solution for the problems faced by the villages, said Paytm vice president Saurabh Jain.
