VITEEE 2026 LIVE: VIT entrance exam starts tomorrow; pattern, marking scheme, guidelines

VITEEE 2026 : Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Vellore will conduct the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE 2026) entrance exams for BTech admissions from tomorrow onwards till May 3 across the country. Candidates appearing for the exam must carry their VITEEE hall ticket 2026 along with a government-issued ID at the exam centre for verification purposes.

VITEEE 2026 hall tickets have been issued on the Online Test Booking System (OTBS) portal, and candidates can download their admit card using their login credentials.

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE 2026 entrance exam must carry a printed copy of their admit card and a government-issued ID at the centres for verification purposes. VITEEE results 2026 will be announced tentatively in the second week of the month.

VITEEE Exam Pattern 2026

VIT Vellore has revised the VITEEE exam pattern 2026 . Till last year, the VIT entrance exam was held for 125 marks, and each question carried one mark. As per the revised pattern, candidates will be given four marks for each correct answer, and there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.

Candidates will be given 125 MCQs comprising five sections listed in the table below.

VITEEE 2026 Exam-Day Guidelines: Do’s, Don’ts

The exam-day guidelines for VITEEE 2026 are listed below.

• Candidates are not allowed to carry a geometry pencil box, handbag, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material (printed or written material), eatables or water (loose or packed).
• Any electronic devices such as mobile phones, earphones or any metallic items are strictly prohibited.
• Biometric registration is a part of the attendance and hall ticket verification process, and VIT reserves the right to carry out the same either before or during the exam or both.
• Candidates who do not cooperate during the biometric registration process will not be allowed to take the exam, and VIT reserves the right to disqualify such candidates.
• Candidates will be monitored through a CCTV camera individually.
• Candidates are not allowed to carry any items other than the documents mentioned above to the examination hall. VIT will not be responsible for any loss of valuables.
• Candidates should not be idle for more than 20 minutes, or else they will be questioned by the VIT Observer, which may lead to expulsion.
• All calculations or writing work should be done only in the rough sheet provided at the beginning, and upon completion, the sheet must be handed over to the Invigilator on duty present in the exam hall.

Once the VIT entrance exams are completed and the results are announced, candidates will be shortlisted for the counselling process based on the VITEEE rank 2026. Selected candidates will be given a provisional admission letter for their chosen BTech programme, and they will have to confirm their admission by getting their documents verified.
