VNIT Nagpur, evACAD to launch MTech programme in Electric Vehicle Technology

The two-year hybrid programme has been designed by VNIT faculty and industry experts. It is available for students and working professionals.

NEW DELHI: Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, VNIT Nagpur, in collaboration with pManifold evACAD has launched an MTech programme in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology. The programme, which is aligned with National Education Policy, NEP 2020, will be available for students as well as working professionals.

The institute said the programme aims to train engineers who are well-versed in EV technology. India is targeting over 30% electric vehicle adoption by 2030 and a rise in demand for skilled EV professionals is imminent, it added.

The two-year hybrid programme -- having online and offline modules -- will focus on the intricacies of EV technology, empowering students to innovate and catalysing industry advancements. The curriculum has been designed by VNIT's faculty and industry experts in the domain.

The VNIT college said working professionals can concurrently pursue the MTech degree while engaging in practical experiences. The VNIT EV centre of excellence will provide hands-on lab and project experience to the students, it said. Students will also get an opportunity to engage in virtual classes with leading EV experts.

Upon completion of the course, students will get the VNIT alumni status and an access to a wide array of career opportunities and industry networks, the institute said.

VNIT director Pramod Padole said: “Electric mobility is penetrating phenomenally in the country since the last couple of years and will continue to grow further. Hence, education related to the eMobility sector is extremely important which will help in facing new challenges of the automotive industry. As per Automotive Mission Plan, 2016-26, VNIT has taken up the task to develop the human resources for the automotive industry.”
