WBJEE 2025 Result: Board to close caste certificate upload window today; fresh merit list likely tomorrow

As directed by the Calcutta High Court, the board is expected to declare a fresh merit list for the WBJEE 2025 admission by August 22.

Reserved category candidates seeking admission to engineering, architecture and pharmacy programmes at various colleges in West Bengal must upload their caste certificate through the WBJEEB’s official admission portal at wbjeeb.nic.in.
Earlier, the WBJEE 2025 results were supposed to be announced on August 7. However, a day before the results, Justice Kaushik Chanda filed contempt proceedings against the board for violating its previous order relating to WBJEE results.

Following which, the court ordered the WBJEEB to publish a fresh merit list by giving 7% reservation for the 66 classes of OBC under the old policy.
“SC/ST/OBC candidates are requested to mention their respective caste/ tribe/ community names, and upload their respective certificates through the window available in WBJEEB’s websites from 18.08.2025 to 21.08.2025 (11:59PM),” the previous circular by the board reads.
WBJEE exam is conducted for admission to engineering, architecture, and pharmacy courses at colleges in the West Bengal state.
What after WBJEE 2025 fresh merit list?
After the fresh merit list for the WBJEE 2025 is declared, the next step for admission will be choice filling and locking. Though the board has not announced any dates for the WBJEE 2025 counselling, it is expected to start the counselling process till August end.
The WBJEE 2025 counselling will include registrations, choice filling, seat allotment, reporting to the colleges. Candidates who will have a valid WBJEE 2025 score or those who will qualify the college entrance test will only be eligible to apply for the counselling process.
The WBJEE 2025 counselling will comprise of three rounds. The seat allotment results will be on the basis of candidates score in WBJEE, preferences, and seats availability.
