IISc Bangalore has bagged 18th position followed by JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, IIT Indore, IIT Ropar from India in top 100 universities.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has bagged the 18th position in Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2022 for Emerging Economies.
IISc Bangalore is followed by JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysore, IIT Indore and IIT Ropar in the top 100 list of world’s universities for Emerging Economies.
While JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research has ranked 73, IIT Indore and IIT Ropar have secured 84th and 86th spots, respectively.

IIT Gandhinagar lies in the 101-200 bracket securing 104th rank followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT), and Delhi Technological University (DTU) at 140, 159, 172, 185, 188, and 191 positions respectively.
University of Delhi (DU) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune are in the 201-250 bracket while Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Anna University, IIT Dhanbad, IIT Patna, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and NIT Silchar lie in the 251-300 bracket.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, NIT Rourkela, and NIT Trichy are in the 301-350 bracket.
IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Mandi, Jamia Hamdard University, University of Mumbai are in the 351-400 bracket while NIT Jalandhar is in the 401-500 bracket.
This year, India has 89 universities in THE World University Rankings 2022 for Emerging Economies.
The top 5 universities in THE World University Ranking 2022 for Emerging Economies are from China.
THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022 includes institutions in countries or regions classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier”.

The ranking shows the continued and growing strength of secondary emerging countries, featuring universities mainly from mainland China, India and Russia.
Earlier, the Times Higher Education announced the Times World University Rankings 2022 wherein three Indian universities made their way in the top 400 universities. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar and JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research were the three universities in the top 400.
Recently, the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the NIRF Rankings 2021 for 10 different categories including Overall, Universities, Engineering, Colleges, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, etc. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, ranked as the top university in the country followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
