13 students test positive for COVID-19 at DU's St. Stephen’s college

St. Stephen’s College officials also confirmed that two staff members have also tested positive for COVID-19

NEW DELHI: Officials at the St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University, on Friday, said that 13 resident students tested positive for COVID-19 following a college-approved field trip. Officials also confirmed that two staff members who accompanied the students have also tested positive for COVID-19.

St. Stephen’s College principal, in a reply to a member of the college’s governing body, confirmed that the trip was approved by the college authorities and that prior permission was taken from the students’ parents.

“Please be informed that the Dean's Office is aware of the situation and necessary steps have already been taken in consultation with medical and civic authorities,” the principal informed in an email to a governing body member.

Officials have blocked off the inner perimeter of the college but has allowed access to the outer perimeter for those with “relevant and regular work”. The college has also asked teaching staff to defer coming to the college till further notifications inform an improvement in the situation.

The officials said that further developments related to the situation will be posted on the college website.
