NEW DELHI: All India Student's Union (AISU) has lodged a formal complaint addressing the tragic deaths of two school children in Bihar. According to AISU, the reopening of schools in severe cold conditions led to these heart-wrenching incidents. The decision to reopen schools in such conditions appears to violate established child rights and safety norms.

The complainant urges immediate enforcement of child rights and appropriate legal measures against the authorities responsible for the decision to reopen schools in extreme weather, as it contributed to the adverse consequences.

The recent reopening of schools in Bihar, mandated by the Bihar State Education Department, has led to the reported deaths of at least two schoolchildren and the illness of various others. The prevailing extreme weather conditions has raised significant concerns about the well-being and safety of students attending classes offline.

A Class 1 student of Kajra Primary School died after falling sick during the morning assembly on Wednesday. The student started vomiting during the morning prayer and passed away during treatment. In Muzaffarpur, a Class 6 student breathed his last after being sent back from school due to severe shivering.

The complainant expresses commitment to adhere to any directives issued by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCCR) in the pursuit of justice.
