29 children get Bal Puraskar 2022 award from PM Narendra Modi on National Girl Child Day
The Bal Puraskar award digital certificates were provided using a blockchain technology developed by IIT Kanpur

NEW DELHI: Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) 2022 has been awarded to 29 children, selected from across India for their achievements in different categories such as innovation, social service, scholastic, sports, art and culture, and bravery. 15 of the awardees were boys and 14 girls. The awarding ceremony was held virtually on January 24, as part of the National Girl Child Day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The digital certificates were awarded to both the winners of PMRBP 2021 and 2022 together by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also transferred the cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 to the bank accounts of winners.

“The digital certificates were provided to the 61 winners including both PMRBP 2021 and 2022 winners using a blockchain technology developed by IIT Kanpur under the national blockchain project. Blockchain technology is being used for the first time for giving certificates to the awardees,”the ministry of women and child development.
PM Narendra Modi interacted with the winners and highlighted the contribution by female freedom fighters like Birbala Kanaklata Barua, Khudiram Bose and Rani Gaidinilu during India’s freedom struggle.
He further said that women are doing commendable work in areas where they were not allowed earlier. He also said that the modern and scientific thinking of children has been reflected in the vaccination program as more than 40 million eligible children got vaccinated since January 3. He praised the children for their leadership in the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan.
