WorldVeg Golden Jubilee Scholarship will be awarded for one-year to PhD students and six-months to MSc students.

NEW DElHI: Three doctoral and master students of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) have been selected for the WorldVeg Golden Jubilee Scholarship by the World Vegetable Center, Taiwan. The doctoral students include K Aravinthraju (agricultural entomology), Kesamreddy Lokeshwar (agronomy), S Kousalya (plant pathology) and the MSc student is Mohammed Sharukh Pasha (crop physiology).
These scholarships are awarded in competitive mode, in which masters and doctoral students from all over the world participate. As per the selection procedure, scholars were scrutinised by their bio-data and the panel members interviewed the shortlisted candidates in person. The scholarship are granted for six months to master students and one-year for doctoral students. The candidates will get the opportunity to do their research at World Vegetable Center Taiwan in the current academic year 2024-25.
During this tenure, the scholars will receive a monthly stipend of US dollars 500 along with travel grant and free accommodation at World Vegetable Center, Taiwan. “This fellowship recognises the past academic excellence, bio-data of the candidates and provides foreign collaborative research opportunities along with the financial support. In addition, the scholars will get exposure to foreign research in their allotted fields,” the TNAU said.

The university vice-chancellor V Geethalakshmi congratulated the students for their achievements in presence of crop management director MK Kalarani, Centre for Plant Protection Studies director M Shanthi, School of Post Graduate Studies dean N Senthil, agricultural entomology head and professor M Murugan, agronomy head and professor P Parasuraman, plant pathology head and professor K Angappan, and crop physiology head and professor A Senthil of the TNAU.
