78th Staff Course commences in DSSC, Wellington
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded an MSc degree in Defence and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras.

UDHAGAMANDALAM: The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in nearby Wellington on Monday commenced the 78th Staff Course, which would train over 400 student officers from India and some foreign countries.
The course consists of 439 officers of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as officers from the allied services of the ministry of defence and 39 officers from friendly foreign countries. Nestled in the verdant Nilgiris, DSSC is the premier tri-services institute of the country that functions under the HQ Integrated Defence Staff and trains middle-level officers of all three services on multifarious command and staff responsibilities over 11 months.
On successful completion of the course, students are awarded an MSc degree in Defence and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras, an official release said. Spouses of the student officers are also given opportunities to attend Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Public Relations and Certificate Course in Soft Skills, it said.

Officers attending the course focus on academics but also participate in co-curricular activities like sailing, horse-riding, hiking, mountain biking sports and games which provide a unique environment for all-around development in all spheres of life.
