AICTE offers scholarships to orphans, wards of Armed Forces, Central Paramilitary Forces

The All India Council for Technical Education has implemented the Swanath Scholarship Scheme to financially support such children to pursue education.

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the Swanath Scholarship Scheme to support the orphans, kids whose either parent died due to COVID-19 crisis, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces, martyred in action, to pursue education, AICTE announced on social media.

AICTE has decided to give a scholarship of Rs 50,000 per year for every year of education of these students.

AICTE launched the Swanath Scholarship Scheme on July 30 under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to financially aid such students.

According to AICTE, only those students are eligible for the scholarship whose family income from all kinds of sources is not more than Rs 8 lakh per annum. They will have to enclose a valid income certificate issued by the State or Union Territory Government.

Further, AICTE said that the students must be currently studying in AICTE-approved colleges or courses at Degree or Diploma level in regular mode.

As per AICTE, a total of 2000 scholarships will be awarded each year to eligible students, wherein 1000 scholarships will be given to Degree students and rest to Diploma students.

Recently, AICTE started online applications for the Special Scholarship Scheme for the students of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh for the 2021-22 session to pursue undergraduate courses outside the state.

Today, AICTE also issued a public notice to warn these students against fake admissions under the scheme.
