AICTE ties up with IITs, IISERs to provide internships to J-K, Ladakh students

AICTE has signed an agreement with IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Ropar, IISER Kolkata, and IISER Pune to offer internships to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh students.
NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has joined hands with four Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) Guwahati, Kanpur, Bhubaneswar, Ropar and two Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) Kolkata and Pune to provide internships to students of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.
The last date to apply for the internship is September 30.

According to the official notification of AICTE, students from any science and engineering subjects of undergraduate and postgraduate studying in colleges and universities of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh can apply for the internship.
Institute-wise Internship availability:
- IIT Kanpur - 8 weeks (October to December)
- IIT Guwahati - 4 weeks (October-December)
- IISER Kolkata - Two months in Winter 2021 and two months in Summer 2022
- IIT Ropar - 4 weeks (December 2021 to January 2022)
- IIT Bhubaneswar - 4 weeks (December 1 to 31)
- IISER Pune - 6 weeks (Summer 2022)
AICTE is also providing Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme to J-K, Ladakh students. It began online registration for the Special Scholarship Scheme on September 6. The last date to apply for a scholarship was September 15.
As per the scheme, the students who are studying online from Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh are provided with Rs 20,000 per semester or Rs 40,000 per year. Along with that, those students who stay in hostels, which are subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs. 1,00,000 per year, are given Rs 40,000 as well as Rs 10,000 for monthly expenses.
Through the scheme, the students of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are able to take undergraduate admissions in various programmes such as science and technology, medicine, arts and commerce, architecture, hotel management, and category technology, as per the AICTE statement.
