AILET 2018 brings surprises; negative marking and lengthy questions make paper tough

NEW DELHI, MAY 6: AILET 2018 concluded on May 6, bringing surprises to the test takers even as the experts termed the exam of ‘moderate to tough’ difficulty level.

The offline admission test conducted by the National Law University Delhi carried negative marking for the first time in its testing history.

Till last year, there was no negative marking in AILET. However, this year, the exam conducting body, NLU Delhi, put a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect attempt. The correct answers carried 1 mark likewise last year. This means a test taker attempting 4 wrong questions in the 150 marks NLU Delhi admission test will lose marks that awarded for one correct answer.

Further, the AILET 2018 takers were surprised with the lengthy questions which made the paper tougher.

According to the experts, the admission test for NLU Delhi undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes was tough this year with lengthy Legal Aptitude questions making the paper a little twisted. The English questions did not have any Reading Comprehension passages but were completely Grammar-based.

However, the General Knowledge and Maths questions in the AILET 2018 paper were easy. The GK questions covered a majority of Current Affairs and less of Static GK.

Following the similar trend of last year, AILET 2018 had a number of lengthy of Logical Reasoning questions and tricky puzzles.

More than 18000 candidates had registered for the test this year. The results will be declared on May 24 followed by counselling process for admission to 83 BA LLB seats on offer by NLU Delhi.

NLU Delhi is one of the two NLUs which do not participate in CLAT. HP NLU is the other NLU which conducts its own entrance exam.
