Assam’s Tinsukia Medical College gets NMC recognition; to start with 100 MBBS seats

With the NMC recognition, the number of medical seats in Assam has increased to 13.
NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has given recognition to Assam’s upcoming Tinsukia Medical College, state chief minister Himanta Viswa Sarma informed on social media. The commission has approved 100 MBBS admissions per year in the college, he said. With the recognition of this college, the number of medical colleges in Assam has increased to 13, the chief minister said.
Calling it ‘great news’, the Assam CM has expressed gratitude to the medical fraternity and thanked prime minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating the college.
“Great news for the people of Assam. The National Medical Commission has officially recognized Tinsukia Medical College, approving 100 undergraduate admissions per year. With this, the number of medical colleges in Assam has now risen to 13. My deepest gratitude to the medical fraternity of Assam for this outstanding achievement. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for graciously inaugurating Tinsukia Medical College. This milestone marks a significant step forward in enhancing healthcare education and services in our state,” Sarma said in a social media post.
As per the official website, the medical college campus is spread over an area of 58.62 acres. The medical education department includes professor Rupak Kumar Gogoi as the dean and Pallavi Bordoloi as the coordinator.
