Azim Premji University, Bhopal to start operations in July; applications open for UG, PG courses

NEW DELHI : Azim Premji University’s Bhopal campus is set to start academic sessions with undergraduate and postgraduate courses in July, pending regulatory filings.

The newly launched campus will offer full-time postgraduate programmes in M.A. education and master of public health and undergraduate programmes in B.Sc. biology and B.A. history. The university has received requisite approvals from Madhya Pradesh Government.

The applications are open for both UG and PG courses till May 20, 2023. Candidates will be shortlisted based on a written test, followed by a personal interview. The national-level entrance test will be conducted on June 10, 2023 and the interviews will be held between June and July. The result with admission offers will be announced in July 2023.

According to the university’s official statement, the undergraduate programme is residential and rigorous education which develops expertise and social commitment. The four year programme fee which includes tuition and accommodation charges is Rs 11,88,000. Students can apply online on the university website.

Eligibility for admission

For undergraduate courses, any candidates who have completed class 12 exams in any Indian board with at least 50% marks or equivalent of class 12 in any foreign board exam with grades equivalent to at least 50% marks can apply.

For masters in education, a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university is mandatory whereas for masters in public health, applicants must have a two-year work experience or field practice in the development sector, medical or paramedical service after their graduation.

The Bhopal campus will be the second university established by the Azim Premji Foundation, after the first one was set up in Bangalore in 2010. According to an official statement, the offline courses will be offered on campus at Kanasaiya, 18 kilometers from Bhopal. The university also claims to host state-of-the-art facilities to enable an effective teaching-learning experience and a vibrant campus life.

Scholarship and placements

To build an “inclusive and diverse student body” the university will be offering extensive need-based financial aid (full and partial) that will cover tuition fees, accommodation expenses and food charges. The new campus will also have a dedicated career guidance and placement cell to support and provide career opportunities for graduates. The university will offer 100% scholarship, if the annual family income of a student is less than 4 lakhs.

The students will also get wide exposure through workshops, seminars, invited expert lectures and vibrant events organized on campus.
