Bar Council of India issues ‘Certificate of Practice’ to AIBE 18 candidates; steps to collect it

NEW DELHI : The Bar Council of India (BCI) issued the All India Bar Examination (AIBE), Certificate of Practice (COP) for the AIBE 18 examination to all state bar councils, except for the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC). Candidates who have qualified for AIBE 18 can now collect their COP from the respective state bar councils.
“For any queries or assistance regarding the collection process, please contact your respective State Bar Councils directly. Please note that the COP for candidates under the Karnataka State Bar Council will be released soon. A separate notification will be issued once they are available,” reads the official BCI notice.
AIBE exam
The AIBE exam is conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) once or twice a year. The COP is awarded to candidates who pass the AIBE exam as an essential component of legal practices. The certificate enables advocates to represent clients in Indian courts.
The AIBE 18 results were announced on March 23 on the official website, allindiabarexamination.com.
As per the BCI, seven questions asked in the exam were withdrawn and the results were prepared based on 93 questions instead of 100. After the changes were made, the passing marks for general and OBC candidates were 45% (42 marks) whereas for SC, ST, and disabled category candidates, the passing marks were calculated as 40% (37 marks).

After passing the AIBE 18 exam, candidates must have the below-mentioned documents while applying for COP.

Three recent passport-size colour photographs

Valid caste certificate (for SC/ST applicants
Any other additional certificates, photographs, declarations, or documents specified in the application should also be submitted by the candidate.
