Under the pratidana initiative, BN Shukla, a local from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, donated to BHU to establish new scholarships in the memory of his parents. BN Shukla donated the sum to Venu Gopal, who is the deputy registrar of sponsored research and industrial consultancy cell.
The donated sum by BN Shukla is part of the pratidana initiative that BHU commenced last year in February. According to the official notification, the aim of the pratidana initiative is to provide scholarships to support meritorious students who require need-based financial assistance. Further, the statement claims that the scholarships will help enhance the learning opportunities for the students, encourage excellence in the teaching process, and allow other students to conduct effective research.
Further, the official statement records that the initiative was based on the vice-chancellor Sudhir Kumar’s aim “to connect with alumni, well-wishers and friends of BHU”.
