IIT Gandhinagar Director Sudhir Jain appointed new VC of Banaras Hindu University

Sudhir Kumar Jain, a Padma Shri awardee, will hold the office for a period of three years from the day he assumes charge of the post of BHU vice-chancellor, according to the rules.
Varanasi (UP): Sudhir Kumar Jain, director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). A letter regarding the appointment was sent to the BHU by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, a BHU spokesperson said.
Jain succeeds Vijay Kumar Shukla as the VC of the BHU. A Padma Shri awardee, Prof. Jain will hold the office for a period of three years from the day he assumes charge of the post of BHU vice-chancellor, according to the rules.

BHU in a tweet wrote, "Sudhir K. Jain, Director, IIT Gandhinagar, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University. In this regard, the Registrar's Office, Banaras Hindu University, has received a letter from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Pro. Congratulations to @SudhirJainIITGN."

"Jain will assume charge as the 28th VC of university. After the end of term of Rakesh Bhatnagar ended on March 28 this year. V K Shukla was looking after the university affairs as acting VC and the dates of assuming charges by Jain will be announced soon," BHU spokesman Rajesh Singh said, as per the Times of India report.
