‘Have lot of work to do’: IIT Gandhinagar director Sudhir Jain assumes charge as BHU VC

After assuming charge, BHU Vice Chancellor Sudhir Jain said, “We have a lot of work to do in BHU, especially when a third wave of Covid is here!”
NEW DELHI: Sudhir Kumar Jain, former director of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar, assumed charge as the 28th Vice Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on January 7, 2022. Rector VK Shukla, Registrar Neeraj Tripathi and other senior officers of the university were present on the occasion.
After assuming charge, Sudhir Jain said, “We have a lot of work to do in BHU , especially when a third wave of Covid is here!” He also interacted with the doctors in Centenary Super Specialty Block of Sir Sunderlal Hospital.

He took charge in the central office of BHU after offering floral tributes to Mahamana and prayers at Sri Vishwanath Temple at BHU premises, the official statement of the university said.

“Jain is a globally renowned scholar of earthquake engineering has earned laurels for shaping and developing the IIT Gandhinagar campus. He is also known for his appeal among students and for redefining the bond between students and educational administrators,” BHU said in a social media post.
On November 14, Jain was appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). A letter regarding the appointment was sent to the BHU by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, a BHU spokesperson said.
