Employees of the education department cannot wear casual dresses like jeans and T-shirts and similar others on duty.

NEW DELHI: The Bihar government in an official statement released on June 28 has directed the officials and staff members of the Bihar education department to follow a proper dress code at the workplace. As per the statement, the education department asked the employees not to wear casual attire like jeans and t-shirts.
The official statement from the Bihar government noted that the department officials and staff are dressed casually for the workplace which is not appropriate according to the office work culture.

The Bihar government wants the officials and staff members to follow a dress code that should reflect a sense of decorum, decency, professionalism, and seriousness of purpose at the workplace.

In 2019 the general administration department of the Bihar government issued a similar notice regarding the dress code for all its employees to ensure discipline in the office and maintain decorum. The order said that all officials posted in the general administration department in Patna should avoid jeans and T-shirts. They were asked to come to the office in formal dresses that are sober in colour, comfortable, acceptable in society, and appropriate as per the season.
