Bihar government school girls of Class 7 to 12 to get Rs 300 for sanitary napkins through DBT

NEW DELHI: The Bihar government under its ‘Mukhyamantri Kishori Swasthya Yojana’ 2023 will deposit Rs 300 annually to all the female students of Class 7 to Class 12 under the direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme. To avail the benefits of the scheme, the girl students of Class 7 to 12 from Bihar government schools have been asked to contact the headmasters of their schools.

‘Mukhyamantri Kishori Swasthya Yojana’ aims to educate young school-going girls from Class 7 to Class 12 about good hygiene practices and make them aware of their health.

The Bihar Education Department in a social media post said that the female students to avail benefits under the scheme may contact the headmasters of their respective schools. The benefit under the scheme will be granted to girls studying in government schools only.

An official statement from the board read, “Details of grant given to girl students studying in Class 7 to 12 in government schools of the state under Chief Minister's Kishori Swasthya Karyakram Yojana. For detailed information and to take advantage of the scheme, contact the headmaster of the school.

Through the ‘Mukhyamantri Kishori Swasthya Yojana’ the Bihar government aims to make young female students aware of their health and the changes their bodies go through during the menstruation cycle. According to the government, it aims to encourage the use of sanitary napkins among the female students instead of using clothes or any other item during their periods.
